Infant Mark and his sister are picked up from a boat adrift in the Atlantic and adopted by a rich Anglo-Indian who raises them in India then sends them home for schooling. On his return to India Mark finds that his sister was on a ship that has vanished in the pirate infested waters of the East Indies.
