Nicky-Nan lives in a tiny fishing village in Cornwall. He enjoys a small pension to which he is hardly entitled. This with a secret hoard of money, the village gossips, the neighbors, the banker, the soldiers digging in his potato patch, in danger of discovering his money, and his conscience, all work havoc for Nicky-Nan.
