The White Plumes of Navarre opens with a dramatic picture of the murder of Admiral Coligny in Paris, and vividly describes the events which led up to the assassination of the Duke of Guise. Henry of Navarre, Philip II of Spain, the Inquisition, the galleys— we see them all. The love of the Abbé John for Claire Agnew is the golden thread of this delightful romance, but the daughter of Philip II is a very fine study.
